Jack Matthew Baran, was born on January 13, 1997 in Fairfield, Connecticut. Also known as thatsojack, he is a social media phenomenon across multiple platforms including Twitter, Vine, and, most notably, YouTube. His YouTube channel has amassed more than 1.4 million subscribers.´

 

He is the second son of an ex-couple. His older brother, Doug Baran, is 21 years old.

 

He attended and graduated from Fairfield Warde High School. When Jack was younger, he suffered a lot of bullying from his school mates, just because he would mainly hang out with girls, especially his best friends Julianne, Kenzie and Caroline. Because of all the bullying he suffered in high school, Jack began to suffer from anxiety.

 

He first created his YouTube channel on May 25, 2010, when he was in the 8th Grade, and he uploaded his first video titled "Could It Be You - H*Wood" on June 29, 2010. With YouTube, Jack made a few online friends, such as Ricky Dilon and Lohanthony, which he still keeps in touch.

 

In 2014 Jack moved from Connecticut to Los Angeles (California), where he currently shares an apartment with a few friends. And he also was nominated for a Teen Choice Award for Choice Web Collaboration, with a video he made with his friends Jenn McAllister, Anthony Quintal, Andrew Lowe, and Rebecca Black

 

In early 2015, Baran starred in an AwesomenessTV skit alongside Paulina Cerrilla, portraying a Starbucks barista. In the summer of 2015, Baran and Jenn McAllister began starring in an AwesomenessTV series titled First Times with Jack + Jenn. In July of that year he also posted a video on his YouTube channel, titled “I’m Gay”, announcing that he is gay.
